What is the Acts 1:8 Challenge?

Today's cutting-edge churches are discovering a new passion for ministry and unprecedented involvement from members of all ages. Pastors and church leaders are embracing God's heart for the world and transforming their churches into worldwide mission centers. When a church accepts the Acts 1:8 Challenge, it commits to fulfill Jesus' last spoken words on earth by taking the gospel to their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth.

Kingdom-Growing is what we want to be all about at First Baptist and ways our missions involvement grows under the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit is to: Prepare, Learn, Pray, Give, Go, Tell, Send and Multiply.

Missions Education – Every Wednesday night from 6:15 – 7:00.

The children of today are the mission’s leaders of tomorrow; First Baptist Church encourages children to learn about God's love, become aware of the needs of others, learn the importance of prayer; and start doing missions themselves. It is never too young to learn about missions. If we want children to become on-mission adults, we must guide them in that direction now. Proverbs 22:6 tells us to begin training children in right behavior and this training will be reflected in their adult lives.

Mission Friends helps young children begin to learn about God and His love, and about becoming one of God's "helpers" here on earth. Mission Friends builds a foundation for children to understand God's plan for their lives. The primary objective of Mission Friends is to provide a strong foundation for preschoolers in a Christian and mission’s lifestyle.

Mission Friends provides developmentally appropriate missions learning experiences to help preschoolers move from a self-centered focus to a focus on others, to become aware that not everyone knows about God's love, and to understand ways they can help others know about this good news!

Girls in Action® (GA®) is a mission’s organization for girls who are age 6-11 or in grades 1-6. GA helps girls in our church begin to develop spiritually towards a mission’s lifestyle as they learn what God is doing in the world and discover their place in God's plan.

GA Pledge:
As a GA, I will do my best to live a missions lifestyle that honors God by
• Learning about missions
• Praying for missions
• Giving to missions
• Doing missions• And participating in the work of the church.

Acteens® is a mission’s organization for girls aged 12–17 or in grades 7–12. In Acteens, girls grow toward becoming all the heavenly Father created them to be.

Designed with the needs and interests of teenaged girls in mind, Acteens is an opportunity to grow in understanding God, yourself, and others.

Missions is at the heart of Acteens, and members explore and do hands-on missions in their communities and beyond. Acteens are also actively involved in learning about missions and praying for and giving to missions.

Royal Ambassadors is a Bible-centered, church-based, Southern Baptist, mission education organization for boys in grades 1-6. A Royal Ambassador is committed to living out the RA Pledge. As a Royal Ambassador I will do my best: to become a well informed, responsible follower of Christ; to have a Christ like concern for all people; to learn how to carry the message of Christ around the world; to work with others in sharing Christ; and to keep myself clean and healthy in mind and body. This pledge is part of personal and chapter (group of RAs) accountability.

The RA Motto, "We are Ambassadors for Christ," not only gives the organization its name, but also gives the boys and leaders a lifestyle goal.
