Day 1 & 2 - We all arrived safely after a 2 hour delay and then had lunch at a local restaurant. We spent the evening just resting and preparing. We had a great dinner prepared by our Mission House parents , Mama & Papa.. We have already fallen in love with them.
Sunday we headed to church and worshipped with close to 200 of our new friends as Mike Emeott brought the message and Hannah & Emily spent Sunday School with children their age.Sunday night we arrived at 5 to prepare for the banquet and were we ever surprised....... Brian brought the message and then our team prepared and served over 200 people.. It was an amazing night. New friends and great fellowship..... Today teaching English and then Bible studies tonight ---
God is Soooooo Good.
Day 3 & 4 - We have truly been blessed the last two mornings we have worked with about 60 children at the Christian school teaching English and showing the love of Christ . They showed us how they salute their flag and they then brought us to tears when they sang " Open The Eyes of My Heart " in English to us. Rueben the schools' headmaster asked us to grad a couple of kids and pray specifically for them and the hardships in their lives.. Today Mike Emeott shared the Gospel with them.
Day 5 - Simply Amazing... The pictures will speak for themselves... It was our last day at the school and at the church and to say it was sad was an understatement. We all can't believe how close we have become with the people here........ especially the children . We combined forces with some of the students at the school to pass out information about the church and the school at a local market then we finished the morning in tears as Mike Emeott shared the gospel with the students. Some led worship with a band made up of our people and theirs... It truly was a worship experience unlike you ever imagined.. They let us know that this was our home as well.
The evening was just as moving as we had a combined covered dish fellowship at the church... Our covered dish was pizza theirs was UNBELIEVABLE.... They cooked signature dishes for us and waited on us like we were royalty and just when we thought we were going to surprise them with a pinata for the kids they had gotten us a huge one for all of us... We will never forget .... Thanks be to God
Day 6 - A perfect ending to a perfect week. We boarded a ferry and traveled to Isla Mujeres where we toured the island in golf carts, visited the sea turtle farm, had a wonderful lunch , and did some shopping. The highlight of the day was when we visited the squatters village where over 200 children live in houses made of sticks, cardboard and tin. Most have no electricity or water. Just two days before we arrived here a fire had destroyed 20 homes and spirits were dim. Walking the streets we gathered the children and took them to the beach to play with them and show the love of Jesus at at time when they needed it most. At the end we gave out the shirts, frames, bags and other things the GA's and Acteens made as well as some other toys....and as always lots of hugs.... we must go back ---they need love.
Day 7 - Sad , sad as we leave our adopted grandparents Mama & Saul and Sammy. They have been so good to us and we will surely miss them. We are hoping to find a way for funding to bring them in for Mauricio's wedding. And of course Mauricio was amazing as always... God has truly got His hand on this man of God and his ministry here in the Yucatan.
We have decided it won't be our last trip here.
Dios es bueno......
