DAY 1
Our trip to Greenville
was a hot one and belabored with the engine running hot. We did make it to West
Gant Baptist and had a good crowd for a Fathers day evening service. Matt will
add the pictures of Sunday nights concert later after I send them to him today.
You can see some pictures of our pre-tour concert at
Wesley Woods.
Everyone is doing well as
we just finished visiting the new Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC. We also
were able to place flowers on Ruth Grahams grave. We were the second group to
place flowers on here grave after yesterdays funeral.
What an awe inspiring day
so far.

DAY 2
DAY 3
Well it's Tuesday and we are traveling to
Williamsburg, VA. We were scheduled to travel for 7hrs.
After 11 hrs. we finally arrived in Williamsburg. It's amazing how
long it takes 47 people to go to the bathroom and just
how many times we have to go. "Lord, help us......"
The bus worked great today and Fred is
awesome behind the wheel...(he is a "Wheeler")
We arrived and went to our secret
destination for dinner. Dewey's step sister and husband own a restaurant in
Colonial Williamsburg. It was a great meal and good to be fellowshipping
together off the bus.
We have the six wonderful folk from
Waynesville with us and we are so encouraged by their presence.
Tomorrow we tour Williamsburg and then
sing in Richmond. We are staying in the Baptist Student building on William
and Mary College.
DAY 4
Well it's Wednesday and we just spent the
night at William and Mary college Baptist Student Union house.
Our Cathy, Brad, and Annette made a great
breakfast for us and before we could head out the door to tour Colonial
Williamsburg the rain set in. We were able to drive to Jamestown and ride
the Ferry as well as see the three replica sailing ships.
We then traveled to Richmond to sing at
Goodwill Baptist Church. Mike had joined us that morning and delivered the
plan of salvation during our concert and personal testimony. It was a great
concert of praise and sad to think that this was the last full concert for
just our group.
I think everyone's secret pals are doing a
good job and we are all learning how to clean up after ourselves on the bus.
With 47 people in close quarters there's just no room for trash.
We can sense the prayers being offered on
our behalf. Thank you for the emails of encouragement and for going to the
website and following this year's tour.
DAY 5
We woke up with the chickens this morning
as we hit the road at 6:30am.
That's right I said in the am. Needless to
say we had some happy campers!!!
We arrived in D.C. around 9:50am and went
to City Central Church for rehearsal for our concert on Sunday at National
Cathedral.
We then ate lunch at Union Station and
then had a 1pm appointment for a private tour of The Capitol through Rep.
Westmoreland's office. We were able to see Rep. Westmoreland as he was
leaving to go and make his vote.
Following our tour of The Capitol we were
able to visit the Air and Space Museum and have dinner off of 7th st. We
were to see a concert by the President's own Marine band at the foot of the
Washington Monument but rain canceled the event.
Tomorrow is another big day in D.C. and
we have a big evening planned. I wonder who will win the "Weenie of the Day"
award tomorrow. We've had many candidates today.....
Today was walking day. We finished up
rehearsal this morning, road to Union Station for lunch (more than 30 min
this time!!!) and then went walking to the Smithsonian (natural History
museum). The weather was beautiful but some folks legs and feet were
starting to show some fatigue. We took the subway back to Union station and
took the bus to the Potomac Nationals baseball game. It was supposed to have
taken only 45 min. but on a Friday and with us going out of D.C. towards
Richmond our trip took 2 and a half hours. We did make it in plenty of time
and the choir did a fantastic job on the National Anthem.
The choir is really starting to come
together as a great musical, mission team. They have sung on the subway, and
have carried themselves in the manner of Christ throughout this trip. I pray
it will continue!!!!
Tomorrow is our last rehearsal and dress
rehearsal at the National Cathedral. It's gonna be a great day.
DAY 7Our venues for rehearsal changed today as
we had our first rehearsal at First Baptist Church of Washington, D.C.
After our 1st rehearsal we went and ate
lunch on the grounds of the National Cathedral. What a beautiful day! We
closed out our lunch by sharing in communion. How solemn and memorable a
moment as we sat at our Nation's capitol and as we viewed the 6th largest
Cathedral in the world. I will never forget that moment!
Then we had our 1st rehearsal in the
National Cathedral with members from the National Symphony Orchestra. What
an awesome sound as the voices from nearly 400 youth accompanied by strings
echoed and stirred our hearts.
We finished around 4pm and headed to the
monuments. We visited the World War II, Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Vietnam,
& Korean memorials. Again, what a day to be in Washington. There was no
humidity and we even had a breeze.
We closed the evening by eating at the
mall (shopping that is) and having to leave our hotel rooms as soon as we
arrived because of someone setting off the fire alarm (no one in our
group!!!!).
Tomorrow is the big day.......we've got to
get some sleeeeeeeeep!!!
DAY 8Today is Sunday and our big day. We
started off with our worship service at United States Naval Academy Chapel
for their worship service. The choir sounded GREAT!!!! After worship we
went to Buddy's Crab Shack for the Sunday Buffet. Everyone at their fill and
we took a tour of U.S.N.A.
led by Jim Long.
We finally ended back at the hotel to pick
up our shirts to wear for the evening. Though being very tired the finale
concert at the National Cathedral was spectacular. Everyone sang out with
great passion and coupled with very fine instrumentalist from the National
Symphony the sound was able to transcend the listener to other worlds. Truly
amazing! I found myself having a moment several times as the sound of these
teenagers soared throughout the room encouraging me in the foundations of
God's truth and with the assurance of Christ's love.
Tomorrow is a long ride back to Newnan.
Pray that we will continue to get along with each other as we are supposed
too and that the weather will hold up. We look forward to being back to
Newnan. It's been a great tour........
